Lightning protection system - cable down conductors

For lightning protection system, can cable down conductor be aluminum instead of copper material? I looked through NFPA-780 and haven't found any rules on this. Thank you.

See Table 4.1.1.1.2 of the NFPA 780 (2014 Edition) for Class II Material Requirements
See Section 4.2.2.3 of the NFPA 780 (2014 Edition) for General Aluminum Requirements

In short, YES. AL is suitable material for lightning conductors with special considerations.
