lights allowed under stairways ?

Are lights allowed under stairways? Customers want to have light under the stair stringers for a closet under the stairs in a house. I know water heaters are not allowed. Either gas or electric. Fire escape hazard. Is wiring and a light allowed ? Thank you.

Yes and water heaters also but Indiana may have an amendment. If it is a clothes closet then you must follow those rules in art.410.
