Hi all,

Was it ever to code to have kitchen lights on a SABC? One of my text books shows it like that and it's really bugging me. I know you can't do that now.

Thanks,

Nathan.

There was a time before the Code had Small Appliance Branch Circuits as a requirement in dwelling kitchens.

An unimproved kitchen, in a home wired with Knob & Tube, is a one such example that I have seen a few of. Not many remain "unimproved".

The desire to use modern electric appliances in the kitchen puts a huge amount of pressure on the pocket book. . . squeezing out the dollars needed to add the capacity required for the appliance(s).

Some times I feel like I know more then I should.

At lest the next set of stuff will all be NEC and won't have such weirdness.
