Hello. I'm looking at an old craftsman style home (built in 1926) to flip this winter. Before I do so, I want to make sure I can bring the place up to code. Virtually none of the rooms have a switch to control the lights. You have to reach up to the fixture & pull the chain. Can an electrical contractor connect a switch to the light fixtures in these rooms via some sort of conduit installed on the wall/ceiling surface or does the wiring have to be put behind the wall to meet code?
Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.
