We recently installed a 460V, 3ph service inot a mart washer in which we came up through the bottom of the control panel and routed all the conductors around the outer edge of the panel around all the controls and up to the top where the termination point is. We made sure that the conductors did not block any of the controls and kept them tight to the edges of the cabinet. The representative from the company who sold the washer to us said that the conductors must come from the top of the cabinet and running them the way we did was a code violation. Does anyone know this to be true?

What was the code referece that he gave you? Oh yeah I bet he didnt because he doesnt have one right?

Does he have to have a code reference other than 110.3(B) if it is part of listing requirements?

Leave 110.3(B) out of the picture for a moment, does he have to warranty his equipment if the installer does not install according to any instructions that come with the equipment?

I do question the installation outside of that just because of how the OP worded things. Is this control panel fed with service conductors? If so is the control panel suitable for use as service equipment? Maybe it is not fed by service but OP made it sound as though it is.

Likely service-supplied feeder conductors were installed... not service conductors.

I was assuming the control panel was intended to be connected in that manner but not sure what the OP really has.

What does "inot a mart washer" mean?
