I believe im correct and we tend not to do it if possible. What article does it state that you can use the same raceway for line and load for a disconnect.

I didn't think there was an article that stated you could. There is one that states you can't...230.7

Ok, maybe im wrong. We have a situation with one conduit coming out of a VFD down in the slab to the first floor and was going to set a box, but wasn't 100 percent sure. I will take a look at that article. I assumed it was like put a nipple to a lighting contactor from a panel and going to the contactor and back out to the panel with the loads.

That is not refering to "line and load" conductors per se, it is refering to "service conductors" and load side conductors from the service equipment. In most other cases it is allowed otherwise we couldn't feed a switch and run the switch leg in the same raceway.

VFD's are different animals and the manufacturer may have issues with it, but it is not a code violation with the exception of maybe 110.3(B)

BTW, I didn't actually edit your post, I hit the wrong button when I was quoting, sorry about that.

Yes, I know what it refers to. Line and load mean different things to different people. Line can be service conductors, load can be all after the disconnect.
I posted the article to show it was OK in every(?) instance except for services.
