Line to Line vs Line to Neutral

We are about to spring for a frequency converter (230VAC 60Hz single phase to 50Hz converter single phase). In the US we are Line to Line voltage. In China (where our equipment will go) is Line to Neutral.

Does this Line to Line vs Line to Neutral matter as long as the potential difference is 230? We want to get a converter but it doesn't specify if the output will be line to neutral. Primarily, we will have a motor, heater, and a 24VDC power supply.

is there a derating factor to take into account of if we go from 60Hz to 50Hz? Some manufacturers say yes, some say no. I'm confused.

If it is single phase it does not matter much.

I am kind of confused about what it is you are actually doing though. Are you buying a frequency converter to test the equipment here or to run it there.

The heater probably does not care what the frequency is and the power supply probably does not care either. You can buy motors that don't care. That might be your best bet. It will run faster on 60 Hz than on 50 Hz. That may or may not matter to the process. You may want to consider just putting the motor on a VFD and skipping the frequency converter idea entirely.

All that, but to answer your question; no, it doesn’t matter. All that matters is the actual voltage potential difference between the two points.

Why do you need to convert from 60Hz to 50Hz if the equipment is to be used in China which is already 50Hz?
