Line Versus Load Side of Circuit Breaker

Section 240.81 of the NEC requires that circuit breakers be mounted 'vertically", such that when the handle is UP, the breaker is ON and when the handle is DOWN, the breaker is OFF. If there any code requirement that the "line" side conductors be wired to the top of the breaker and the "load" side conductors be wired to the bottom of the breaker? Certainly this is normal convention and good practice to prevent confusion in the field, but I am trying to find out if the code "requires" that this practice be followed.
