The quick connect that comes with a 2x4 lay in light, are they required?
I know I can cut them of , flip them over and wire nut two down to one.
I know where to buy the yellow ones that allow two hots and neutrals.
I just dont understand why I get 42 lights with the orange single connection quick connects.
The only room in the bldg that will have one light with one switchleg is the electrical room. Seems to be the least place its needed.
I wanna rebel and throw them in the trash or ask for a credit and send them back.

I also wanna do the right thing.

It looks like yes they are required in my situation.
If turning the switch off didnt leave the room in darkness I think exception 4 could apply.
So I get to the supply house and all they have are thounds of the single port linear disconnects.

Plan ahead and order the right ones to keep on hand.

Here is one example from Wago http://www.amazon.com/2-port-Ballast-Umi-nuts-Disconnect-Rectangular/dp/B00IZC8XNG

Those are the ones I went to buy and they were out .
I called the office to tell them if the lights dont come with double then the supplier of the light should throw a box in with the lights and then send us a quote. .lets see whos will to throw the right ones in with the lights for the same price.
That should get their attention.

Or since you already have them, just use a wago (I call them port connectors) & pigtail your hots & neutrals feeding the fixture. That way, you are not altering any factory wiring.

As to why they come from the factory that way, probably cost savings!

Yep I use the 3 port idea connectors which cost less than a 4 port linear but I wanna feel like the lighting provider has the power to insist on the 4 port connectors with lights. Im only one person. But I know they are half stepping by providing only 2 port connectors.
I am that guy who will say then dont put any on my light and show me the price diff.
