Hey guys I have been google searching for linemen training and all i can find are apprenticeship programs that are like 16 week long classes way out of Michigan. What I am looking for is like a 4 day seminartype class that teaches generation, transmission and distribution. Also looking for something that deals with highpotting transformers, read primary voltage/PPE and troubleshooting. Properly grounding a de-energized power/distribution line. Is there something out there like that? Looking to stay close to Michigan or Great Lakes area. Thanks for the help

You can avoid some apprenticeship programs by attending the limited selection of JW classes sold separately, at the apprenticeship-training centers and some city colleges.

Try browsing a few trade-school / college catalogs, or contacting some nearby apprenticeship schools for the specific class you need, and ask if those classes are sold separately, without pre-requisites or indenture. All of these apprenticeship schools are private-profit centers, and do offer selected JW classes & certification courses to the public. I got my refinery safety course that way. For some indentured schools, the JW requirement can be satisfied by State Division of Apprenticeship certifications, if required at all.
