There is a significant body of opinion that says many things Bose are cr*p...

i've had car audio techs tell me the same thing about the system in my truck. as far as factory stereos go i've been well satisfied w/ my bose. during last year's trip to disney world we stopped at the bose store outside orlando. they had a small theater inside w/ their newest lifestyle setup. everything sounded great except for the subwoofer, which is the only problem i experienced in my truck and added a JL sub to compensate.

I installed a $60,000 home theater in an office (I kid thee not) a couple years ago. Everything was the best of the best. The plasma alone was a third of the cost. They had a Bose speaker system and a Bang & Olufsen CD player. That thing blew my mind... $6000 for a 6-disc CD changer. Why??? Sure it looks pretty, but :-? You could probably have assembled a better-performing system for the price of the TV alone, but then it wouldn't have been 'the best equipment'

It's like Corona... They ship 7 railcars a week of beer into Vancouver, which clearly shows the demand for it here. Go to Mexico and Corona is the dog beer. It's amazing what marketing can do...

there's a local LV shop that installs some harmon kardon stuff that is really nice. i think leviton has a partner program w/ them too where you can get the stuff through your supply house at a slight discount off retail for those who aren't H/K dealers.

Here is a link to the best home theater forum on the planet. This link goes directly to the gallery. The message board is technogeek heaven!

This other one is some pictures from a company I work with.

The first two pictures in the link below are from a house that I worked in. This theater was destroyed by fire alledgedly cause by rope lighting. 1 million + in damage to the house. I did not install the rope lighting!

The other pictures are from my own home theaterish room. I did all work except plastering and carpet.

thanks!

Thank you for all the tips. A friend of mine is asking me to help him with this in a basement finish job. I noticed in the blue store the other day that they had some flyers on different things pertaining to home theaters.
