Liquid Nitrogen

I noticed one day that a nearby telephone poll had two liquid nitrogen cylinders attached near the top. I have never noticed anything like that before. Can someone explain why they may have been there?

must have been some major wet lines they where drying out! never seen liq ones on a pole, but a lot of Nitrogen gas cyc next to the pole on the ground or leaning on the pole.

Yup. Nitrogen is injected under the jacket to dry them out. There are some lines that are always pressurized to keep moisture out.
