Is liquid-tight flexible metal conduit (sealtight) that is approved for direct burial and is sunlight resistant approved for direct burial in the ground from a surface location, or must it be protected with ridgid conduit or concrete for the first 18 inches that it penitrates the soil? would you protect it much like how you protect uf cable or pvc conduit? Looking on the inter-net I came across a goose neck that you can use to protect it penitrating the roof.

350.10 Uses Permitted.
LFMC shall be permitted to be used in exposed or concealed locations as follows:
(1) Where conditions of installation, operation, or maintenance require flexibility or protection from liquids, vapors, or solids
(2) As permitted by 501.4(B), 502.4, 503.3, and 504.20 and in other hazardous (classified) locations where specifically approved, and by 553.7(B)
(3) For direct burial where listed and marked for the purpose
350.12 Uses Not Permitted.
LFMC shall not be used as follows:
(1) Where subject to physical damage

In my opinion it could be run exposed down into the ground if not exposed to physical damage.

Thanks for your reply. I agree with your opinion that Sealtight can be run from the surface to underground. I have looked at Column 3 of table 300.5 and there is a note at the bottom of the table (note 3) that says "lesser depths shall be permitted where cables and conductors rise for terminations of splices or where access is otherwise permitted".
