We often use these words, in our quest to properly do our jobs. Yet, it helps to keepp in mind that none of our sources - be they the NEC, the 'White Book", UL statement, OSHA letters, manufacturer statements, whatever - are infallible. You just can't avoid making your own call.
Take, as an example, this product's spec sheet:

By all accounts, this is a responsible manufacturer, making a quality product. Yet, I have to ask: is it NEMA-4X or not? Is there an editing issue or a product issue?
I'll bet others here can come up with other examples of contradictory instructions. Feel free to post your best ...
