I was brought in to troubleshoot a vintage '80s LV dimming system that uses mostly Litetouch products. Part of the problem is the house is being repainted and re-papered and the paint head painters are removing the controllers to do their work.
Another problem is, the small electrical closet that has 3 large dimmer cabinets and 3 relay cabinets and tons of 18 AWG wires on punch down blocks where they have turned to junk collecting closet.
Anyway, the den has a circuit that controls 6 cans that has a controller at 5 locations. When I was brought in, one controller would not function but the other four did. The controller at that location was broken by a painter. I replaced the broken controller with a new generation one and nothing. Then I found a blown fuse in the relay cabinet. Replaced the fuse and now all the circuit stays on and none of the controllers will turn it off or dim the circuit (all 5 have 3 pilots on).
As I typed this, I have almost decided to uninstall the new controller and see if that's why none of them will control the circuit. Short of a bulldozer, are there any other suggestions?
