What makes an LL or LR conduit body legal?

If you apply the sizing requirements of Art. 370-28, they ain't legal! It appears to me that since the entry is not opposite the removable cover, they should be 6 times the diameter by 6 times the diameter?

I'm sure this line of thinking is not correct, but I just don't know why it's wrong.

Re: LL &LR Calculations

Wayne,
First the rules in 314.28 do not apply if the conductors are smaller than #4. Second, conduit bodies often comply with 314.28(A)(3).

Re: LL &LR Calculations

Don, thanks for the reply.
I guess I have to agree with you. 370-28(a)(3)does say "dimensions less than... shall be permitted". I knew there must be something that made them legal.

I see you referenced the 02NEC. Virginia is still screwing around with adopting the 99. We are still under the 96. They got to fighting over adopting the IBC and have fallen big time behind. Looks like we get the 99 in Sept. and probably the 02 a year later. Heck, some of us are still fighting the Civil War, so you can't expect much better I guess!
