Load calc question

Allright I have hit a stumbling block and im probably overthinking this, but I have seen several examples of single and multifamily load calcs and some of them include the largest motor as part of the calc but the mike holt book ive got does not include largest motor as part of the calc. based on the 2008 nec who is correct?

I will not go so far as to say Mike is wrong because I am not sure he did what you said. IMO 125% is needed for the largest motor however in optional calculation I don't believe you need to do that
