Hi,
Looking for the math and where to find in the code book for a question I saw on the 01 admin test.
It went something like this.
How.many required 20 amp outlets for a 3000 square foot church.
I've some say divide square feet by 800, but I really need to understand what I am doing for this to make sense.
I've gone through the NEC book and Mike holts electrical exam book and cannot find it any where.
Also any insight on duplex load calls would be helpful.

Only required outlets are a receptacle outlet near service equipment and a receptacle outlet near air conditioning equipment, unless it would happen to have a space that qualifies as a dwelling unit or guest room/suite, and lighting outlets in spaces with equipment requiring servicing, as well as near the service equipment.

Everything beyond that is optional or conditional. By conditional I mean if you have equipment that requires electric power then obviously you need an outlet to supply it with.

If you are asking how many general use receptacles are needed - answer is you aren't required to have any other then the ones I mentioned above. Any general use receptacles (with no dedicated load associated with them) are assigned 180 volt amps each for load calculations.
