I Have A Customer Installing 4 Tanning Beds, I Need To Do A Load Calculation. I Am Unable To Find Anything On Demands For Tanning Beds, So I Am Assuming That The Load Is Calculated At 100%. This Would Require Upgrading The Existing Service, This Would Cost The Customer More Money.
Is There A Demand Factor For Tanning Beds?

Thank You For Any Information You Can Give Me
Greg

No, you are correct. The NEC provides no demand factors for tanning beds. Unless you can ensure (prove) non-coincidential loading, 100% rating must be applied for each.

In a busy tanning salon these beds will all be running at the same time so I agree with Bryan. Also if you're performing a load calculation you need to include information regarding air conditioning. Tanning beds produce a large quantity of heat. A salon we did a few years ago needed to add supplemental AC's which meant adding a new panel.

I have a tanning salon as a customer, and I can guarantee you that there are many times when all these things are running at the same time (13, in my case). Most of them are 40 amps at 230 volts.

Another odd thing about tanning beds is that many manufacturers insist on exactly nameplate voltage; plus nothing, minus darned little. This almost guarantees that you'll need buck-boost transformers.
