To all I have an IT group that wants me to install a load center onto an existing IT rack mount 3000 kva UPS.The load is verry minumin. My question is the UPS has a l5-30R built in and they want me to feed this load center with a SO cord as a feeder. I asked the Electrical Inspector about the wiring method and the answer was as long as it was listed. Triplight makes a hard wired input and output model. I have never seen such an installation. Any feed back is appriciated. Please see the attachment View attachment APD UPS non hard wired.pdf

I looked at your attachment but I'm still not sure I envision what they suggest for you to install. SO cord is not considered a permanent wiring method and as such I would be very hesitant to install that to feed a load center that powers more than a single piece of equipment, or where the conditions of the installation took the SO cord outside the rack.

Is the load center a permanently mounted thing or is it movable within the rack, and as such appears to need a flexible, or at least, a removable feeder?

SO cord as perminate Feeder?

SO cord as perminate Feeder?

The load center is a standard 120/240 v 12 circuit panel mounted to the wall, would not need to remove the feder unless the UPS has a total failure. Flexablity is not needed as noise or vibration issues, only change over to flex to terminate the UPS. The Tripplite company has a model that is a hard wired input and output. I am trying to find a code art: that will support not using the SO cord and recept. to feed a panel. would Art:400.7 and 400.8 support this. I am also asking Tripplite for their intent of the L5-30R pigtail on the output is it for a PDU product that they can offer? ect..
