What is the rate of electrical load growth in a typical telephone exchange building with 22KV/415V supply?May we take a 5% load growth per year or more? Is there any economical advantage in the long run by converting the existing MV supply to LV supply for such a building? Thanks.

Most Telco companies can't predict their load growth past one year out, and that is often a WAG anyway.

5% is as good a guess as any.

I design projects in CO's that have had similar load profiles for 40 years (no need for additional equipment), and then there are some that grow like crazy since the power density of equipment has been increasing for many years and they can fit more equipment in the same footprint.

Thanks ron for your reply.
My problem is the exchange building is provided with MV supply at present. If the MV supply is converted to LV supply on the basis of the present connected electrical load to effect saving in recurring electricity charges (LV supply here has no maximum demand charges), any load growth in, say, 10 years period, necessitating MV supply again (more than 112 KW connected load here requires MV supply)would nullify any saving thus obtainable.
