locater

Has anyone used a locater that could locate a fiberglass or plastic pipe that did not contain wire or metal (they contain gas and diesel)?

If so, please share info on the device you used.

There is a sonar type listening device used for that purpose, but I'm not sure what it's called or how effective it might be. I did locate a PVC well water line for a customer by running my fish tape through it and using the regular old 3M Dynatel locator.

I'm not sure about gas or diesel lines, but natural gas lines usually have a tracer wire run with them for locating purposes. If there is one there you'll see it where the lines emerge from the ground.
