Locating Fiber

Should be a locate wire or shield (though it isn’t an actual shield), unless it was a private install where the installer didn’t know better, where he would be sol, because utility locate will not locate a private line, and a private locate company wouldn’t be able to locate either. If it was a recent install, and was trenched in, he might be able to probe the ditch.

They did a government sponsored project installing dark fiber to all government type buildings in my county about 10 years ago. They directional bored a duct with inner ducts and blew fiber into one of the inner ducts. The contract had not specified a locating conductor.
A year or two later, they had another contractor come in and install a copper conductor in the outer duct for locating purposes.

Without that you need someone who can use "witching sticks" to find a buried fiber :D

Based on my knowledge, fiber doesnt have any conductive tracer to physically locate like copper cables do. Sounds like "Getting the cable stretcher outta the truck" type deal....Peace.
