Previous employer had a Greenlee line locator to trace out the line (example- feeding an out building), then had a Greenlee fault locator (don't remember model #) for locating burn-offs. That allowed him to know specifically where to dig to fix the burn-off.
The setup wasn't/isn't cheap!

What do others use for this task?
Thanks!

We use this for locating and fault finding. It gets used most of the time for locating or fault finding direct bury aluminum wire to irrigation circles, sometimes 2000'+. It has also cut down our potholing time to almost nothing with the depth measurement it has, we throw a smooth bucket on the mini excavator and dig to within a few inches of the cable or conduit. We spend A LOT less time in the hole with a shovel "looking".

You gotta pay to play though, it's not cheap.

Looks nice, but expensive! Have any ideas about how much it costs?

How does it differentiate between multiple direct burial cables that are in the same area?
