location of disconnect off equipment

looking to find out how far disconnects can be located from their corresonding equipment, i am looking for a distances, i have in the code books it needs to be in clear sight, but how far can that be?

I had tons of trouble with this too. I knew it was 50' but I didn't want to tell you that until I found it. I had to use a different reference to find where it's at. The NFPA geniuses hid it under "In Sight From" in article 100.

They parenthesised (Within Sight From and Within Sight). I guess they felt they needed three phrases to say one thing and use the least referenced in the definitions. :roll:

I don't know what your equipment is, double check that this applies to it.

It's on 70-36 of your NEC 2002.

Please forgive my momentary outburst of NEC bashing, it -- happens to me.
