Locations for Receptacle outlets in Office buildings

Section 210 does make any requirements for commercial office buildings or industrial facilities. Is there somewhere else in the code that might cover receptacle outlet location requirements – specifically for offices in a commercial office building? While 210.50 (B) states "A receptacle outlet shall beinstalledwherever flexible cords with attachment plugs are used." It also states "Receptacle outlets shall be installed as specified in 210.52 through 210.64" and these articles do not cover office buildings.

Not really.

There is 210.63 that applies.

Beyond that is is up to the person paying for the work.

Agreed.

The expectation is that someone understanding the usage of the space will be laying it out. Theoretically, no receptacles required in an office space other than to power stuff being installed.

Code dictates locations in residential spaces because most people all use the same kind of stuff in their house. Same appliances, lamps, tv's, etc. Household items all have 6' cords, hence the code on wall spacing. Also, people move out of houses and other people move in.

In a commercial space, if one business moves out, the one that moves in will probably be rearranging everything to make way for the equipment they expect to use. If you want one wall of the office to be covered entirely by a mural, you are not forced to install receptacles on it.

Although I would be impressed if you did that and painted the faceplates to incorporate them into the art.
