Hi, I just returned from looking at a potential job and I have some questions on this one, as in the past I only ran a short underground service.
All have been overhead.

And with all the knowledge out there I would like some advice please!

The power company will only allow underground in this situation as it's new construction.

Ok, The power company will supply me with power to a pole where I must supply (2) 200A meter sockets. I assume 5' to center from grade as usual.

Do these need to have a main breaker in them and do they need to be grounded with a rod at the meter as well as the house and barn?

The main house is 230' from the meter and the barn is just under 100'
I will probably use 4/0 in 2"pvc to the barn.

Then (2) 4/0 wired in Parallel in 4" pvc, to the main house?
Is a pull box required every 100'?

Is there anybody out there that is familiar with this type of sitution? Thanks, Bob

Hello Bob

Pull box every 100 ft? - no

Are you required to install ground rods at the remote meter?
sometimes yes and sometimes no, it depends on your Utility company.

Are you required to have disconnects at the meter? Not by NEC code, but maybe a local code, do not forget to ask.

Grounding at the house will be required, and how depends on what you may do at the poles where the meters are located.

I did a voltage drop cal using your dimensions.

4/0 cu @ 230' 2.3% VD 3 conductors only, 2" PVC

250 mcm al 230' 2.8% VD 3 conductors only, 2" PVC
