longest time for a fixture changeout

What has caused a simple fixture change-out to exceed your estimated time and by how much and why? yesterday i spent a whopping 4 hours total which included cutting in a finished attic floor to house a j-box so i could feed a ceiling fixture requiring 90 degree wiring.

Lost a full day to a single 4" LV fixture. The part of the attic I needed in, was blocked by an addition (Love GC's/Roofers). Had to remove gable vent and crawl in.
Yes, I bid the job looking at the attic access in the 2nd floor hallway. No, I didn't pull down the stairs and poke my head up.
I cut in access hole in old roof line free of charge - I was so far down, why not?

Just me if i had the helper it would have been just as long but with that much more overhead

The maintenance crew were lowering a large chandellier in the state capital rotunda when the pully system broke sending the glass fixture crashing to the floor it was several months repairing the fixture to be rehung.
