We have one assisted living facility nearby that has two EXIT signs at each exit. One high & one low. The low one would be useful
in low visibiltiy situations think smoke.

I wish people would post pictures where I could actually see what they are talking about. I see the sign apparently hanging off something. Is it a dead mouse?

It looks like a 4/0 box that is notched at the KO's to rest on an X in the grid.
Now that you say it, it does look like an octagon box, pretty corroded for some reason though.
