I've run into a 1974 DP made by Yankee Manufacturing. It's 120/240, 1ph, 3 wire, type CDP.

I need to add a 125A-2P breaker to it. Replacing the whole thing would, I fear cause a cascade of challenges I'd like to avoid.

Any idea what kind of breakers these would be. Did they make their own? Were they an OEM that used maybe GE breakers (they are in CT as was GE in those days).

Appreciate your help.

Before proceeding to find a breaker I would first assure that the existing breakers actually work. It's not all that unusual for breakers never to be opened an closed during their life times. Having a few of the breakers tested to assure that they are still protecting would be the first step. If they are questionable that would be your cue to recommend a new panel instead of patching up an old panel that may not be providing protection.

For that year, I'm sure there are only a few company's across the US that might even have a chance to replace that breaker. Nor even know any history of it!

www. southlandelectrical.com Might be your best shot.

I walked the facility for a friend on an unrelated matter, I have no association to this company.

Lots of panel shops that used other OEm guts to make panels, a type CDP (Panel, which is what I assume you mean) is Federal Pacific I believe and with the right kit there will be a bunch of different breakers you can put in there. What is the breaker type that is already installed in that panel?
