I have been asked to replace 40 to 45 2x4 troffer florescent fixtures. I am responsible for the?fixtures. The customer, a big company, wants as much light as possible from each.

What is the best reflector, lens type to get the most light. This is an 8' ceiling office area.

I don't want to break the bank but I also don't want to go cheap.

As always, I look forward to your thoughts.

What do they have now?

Two, three or four lamp fixtures?

F40-T12?

Plastic prismatic lens or parabolic?

Re: Looking for some input...

They currently have plastic prismatic, very dirty, 4 lamp fixture. I was told they have 40 watt lamps.

When the request is generic, saying, "More light, cheaper operating operating expense", I've been using 4 lamp F32T8 lay ins with a parabolic reflector. The people normally rave, especially if they've been dealing with T12's and yellowed prisamatic lenses for years and years. I think these are around 50 bucks a piece in my neck of the woods for non air handling type.

I've sold larger jobs by changing a 1/2 dozen fixtures to demonstrate the difference. Might work for you too.

The fact that they are very dirty works in your favor, just changing the lamps and lenses would brighten the place up.

However if you swap the fixtures out for new four lamp T-8 lamps it will be a huge gain.

An F40T12 produces about 2,376 lumens and an F32T8 produces 2,668 lumens

You end up with a gain of 1168 lumen's per fixture.

As a bonus they will also consume less power.

I think the T-8 is the way to go with the lamps. I have been looking at the 18 sq.

Which is better for light the plastic prismatic or 18 sq parabolic?

Thanks to everyone.
