I heard my old company use to hire in Temps at $30/hr. Worker gets $20 temp company gets $10.

but you have to remember that out of that ten the temp agency gets they have to pay all burden, taxes insurance safety and OH. not saying they dont make good money. I wish I could do it.

2007 - 11/14/2007 - OSHA announces employer-paid personal protective equipment final rule

This rule was only published in a few places; perhaps a lack of public funds in a self-regulatory culture. In my experience, smaller employers don't see the connection to liability costs, or larger contracts, when shown this rule. Like any new law, enforcement may take time.

For most places, the cost is so minimal as to be insignificant. The expensive stuff is the stuff you have to have to work on live things and in most cases you can get by with a couple guys on a site having that kind of gear.

I wonder if the feds will allow companies to just pay the worker to get the stuff themself?

I don't know details. Most companies can supply in bulk. so $2/hr adds up. Heck they might even charge $50/hr for each temp. The companies I work for charge out $80-$140/hr I get a fraction of that. alls I do is just show up to the plant with a dumb/lost look on my face.

I agree with that osha rule however most smaller PPE I get from the employer ends up in the trash except the hard hat.

Yes, I believe the language in the final rule describes it as reimbursement.
