I agree, but I would go half way. If cost is the issue then conduit and aluminum conductors and try to sell the advantage of conduit vs. DB.
 
What does it cost to redig a trinch ? Also you only need 18 inches.Seen this mistake happen on a job i wired.Boss said run 12-2 uf to the pump 240 volt.On trim they add water softner 120.Add to this 100 feet in Florida in July heat.Very costly over saving $20.Might be smarter not to take the job if customer is only after price.

I could probably get by with looping if I made the first run with 8/3 wg, and then looped to the 2nd with a 10/2 wg. Go to a supply house and get it; Lowe's and HD are outrageously high on wire cut by the foot.

You could get by w/ #8 to the first; you would drop a little over 5 volts fully loaded.

If you really want to go the UF route and loop them like you've suggested, I would put a 3R gutter below the first RV box and make the tap there to go to the next one. Space will get tight inside that RV box.
 
I saw that quadraplex at Lowes too, they have a pretty fancy revolving wire rack. I think it was labeled "service entrance cable" but was of a much larger gauge. The wire trough under the 1st post idea sounds great too, is that an "inspectable" method of splicing? I'll try to look that up and see what you're referring to. I will be also running 3/4" pex water lines, probably DB Cat 5 and coaxial runs off the multi-switch for small dish. MAYBE A PAIR OF 1 1/2" CONDUITS WOULD BE THE SMART BET.
