Having Sent my application in to take the NJ exam on 9-15-08. I called a week later to aske if everything was alright with my application. Did I miss anything, were my i's dotted etc.. I was told yes and to wait for the board to aprove my application. I'm thinking great, Baby due April 1st exam date April 4th, Better hit the books hard. Well this Saturday I got a letter(1-24-09) from the Board stating they didn't have my Work certificate and high school diploma paper work. I grabbed my file and went to the Board office, something was wrong. I got there they opened my file and everything was there it was an "oversight." The nice lady (she was very nice) at the Board offfice told me they were months behind in submitting applications to the board. (I was told 80 new apps and 300 retests). The problem I have is the people hosting the exam prep classes have no one to contact and the April exam prep classes which last anywhere from 10 to six weeks don't seem possible. I'm from NJ and used to getting the shaft from the government but this is to much. Don't call the board office and complain or all our waiting applications will end up in a river. If your waiting please reply?!? Yes I am using Mike Holts DVDs, but i was hoping for some extra insight on Fire Alarm and Business Law. It looks like July to me or a cram session. If you hold a exam prep class and didnt have one because of this please let me know if I get replies we can do something. Mike Holt you make some calls!!!!! Andrew

Wow. I thought it was pretty bad that I submitted my paperwork for the master license 03/07/08 and didn't get approved to test until 05/02/08. On my RW and JW licenses I had my license in hand within three weeks of mailing the paperwork.

I swear dealing with some of these office type people in NJ is a real "turkey" shoot. If you get the wrong person from the start that can add loads of time to a project. It happens all the time, and god forbid if you say something, your done. And when you call about something thell just yes you to get you to hang up and then act like you never had a conversation. There are many people out there that have made "looking busy" into a fine art form.

I'm in the same boat you are, sitting here waiting for the little letter from the state saying I've been approved to sit in for the exam. I haven't heard anything from them yet. I wonder if I ask a certain inspector I know who's familiar with the process if he can kind of work some magic for me I might somehow be able to sit in for the 4.6.09 exam. They say it's not what you know it's who you know. I have a feeling I'll be testing that theory soon.

Whenever I run across a project where DCA review is required, I triple or quadruple my engineering time estimate. It's like getting pecked to death by ducks.

I think I'm going to be sick.

Does anyone know the maximum amount of people allowed to sit in for the exam at once?

380 is a ton of people when you're the 381st person on line.

One thing I think about, If there is 380+ or - testing this April, including me, why is there a hand full of concerned people talking about it. Are the 360 other people that are OK with everything???

I don't think there is a max :-? the State wants as much money as possible.

Even the 1st person gets to wait for the last one to sit down.;)

The other folks haven't found this forum

When I took my test last january, They had two days of testing because they had so many test takers. Don't worry they will get you in.
