Low Level Exits

When are Low Level Exits Signs required and is there a minimum distance that they need to be installed from the door if required?

NFPA 101 7.10.1.6 "The bottom of the sign shall be not less than 6 in., but not more than 18 in. above the floor. For exit doors, the sign shall be mounted on the door or adjacent to the door, with the nearest edge of the sign within 4 in. of the door frame."

What type of occupancy are you dealing with? They may have special requirements.

This is a Hotel/Sports Club in Aliso Viejo, CA. We currently have Low Level exit signs only at the doors leading to the stair wells within the Hotel tower. Does there need to be low levels at every exit? Is this a city requirment?
