Low Voltage and Fire Supression

I have run into a job where the electricians have run conduit for the low voltage (voice and data) into the same junction boxes as the fire alarm system. I am in Clark County Nevada, and have never seen this before, does the NEC address this issue?
 
Clark County= Las Vegas, right? I'm pretty sure that you have a very restrictive fire code there, among the toughest in the country if I'm not mistaken. The best thing to do is to check your local code. Fire alarm codes vary widely from area to area, from almost nothing to a rule for everything.

What you describe just sounds odd. What is the purpose of that?

It would not be allowed where I live. FA raceways are for FA and related systems only.
