Even though the code requires all 120V receptacles in bathrooms to have GFIC's its unclear if class 2 circuits also require grounding and/or GFIC protection [in the bathroom]? In particualar, if the class 2 wiring orginates outside the bathroom. For example a panel mounted class 2 transformer feeding out to the bathroom. Seems like a GFCI feeding the primary side of a class 2 tranformer would be worthless for sensing ground faults on the secondary if the secondary carried a seperate ground, which NEC does not require.

Any ideas, opinions?
