Low voltage / Fire Alarm wire staples

Guy on job site today insisted that fire alarm cable FPLR, FPLP, etc. needs to be installed using insulated staples. For years I have used Arrow cable stapler - non-insulated staples. I can not find this requirement anywhere. Am I wrong?

Nope. There isn't any requirements in the NEC or 72 for that. Local amendments aside.

It's not the best idea, unless you know what you are doing, like over driving a staple into NM.

I see nothing in Article 760 regarding that. Ask him for a reference.
