Low voltage for BAS in conduit

I always understood that low voltage wire run down througha wall for a BAS sensor or thermister does not have to be in conduit. I have a GC telling me different. Can anyone referance the NEC on this. I found nothing.

whats BAS? Are you installing the cable in a rated wall?

You are referring to a building automation system, correct? I believe Article 725 provides the information you are asking for.

Building Automation System. No this wall is just an interior wall.
