recently i was working in a nursing home, bringing everything above the ceiling to code. the low voltage wiring was done very inconsistently, joints weremade in free air and in boxes. metal 1900 and 4/0 were used and no covers were installed. no conduit came into the boxes but the inspector said they must have covers installed or the boxes must be removed and the joints made in the open. his reasoning was that without covers it gave a possible fire fuel. that makes absoutly zero sense to me how the existance of a steel j box created a greated fire hazard. this seems somewhat insane to me. can anyone help me understand his reasoning?
