I've got a banquet hall/convention center project that the owner wants a dimmer panel put in for most of all the lighting. The load is 12000 watts of mixed types, chandeliers, sconces, cans, both incandecant and flor.. I'm thinking a 100A panel. Any ideas?

Sounds liek this is outside what you normally do. I would suggest contacting your local Lutron rep and sending them what plans and specs you have. They will provide layouts, quotes, cutsheets, etc for your engineer or lighting designer for their aproval. Unless you've done a few smaller setups like this or have experience with theatrical type systems, you will probably miss some stuff in your orignial quote/bid, and have to eat the cost.

Lutron, and others, also have a factory commisioning type of service that can come out and program the system. Sometimes they require it so that you can have the full warranty.

Thanks for the info, and yes, this is outside my normal projects with the lighting, but look forward to the experience/learning, just hope I don't lose it in the shorts!

You might also check out Futronix dimmer systems, they have a couple of units avaiable that might work for you, the Enviroscene is good i have installed these, they also have the PFX range, www.futronix.us

Be careful here. Dimmer control panels get pricey and have subtle differences in function esp. when dealing with tungsten & flour. control modules. The best manufacturer is ETC. Check out www.etcconnect.com
and look under architectural systems. They have excellent tech support as well. Their are other less expensive systems made by more common manufacturers.
