low voltage on unistrut racks

Does anyone know of anywhere in the NEC where running low voltage a/v wiring, CATV, control wiring, etc. on existing cable trays is prohibited?

If a long run exists, made of unistrut suspended from the ceiling via threaded rod- and there are EMT raceways running along those supports, can low voltage bundles be run along with it? What article lists this?

Thanks!

Re: low voltage on unistrut racks

you can't support them from the EMT directly, since the code prohibits using EMT to support anything else.

as long as it is acceptable to run the comm wires in the way you suggest, I see no issue with using existing supports.

it's a pretty common practice.

Laramie,

In reading your post,sounds like you intend to use the supporting system{"unistrut"} ,in supporting the cabletray itself..{on and attached to the unistrut}

I see no problem..

*will direct you to 800.133(c)as far as supporting your cable from the exsisting raceways..

Noted Also: Cabletray,is also not -listed as a raceway,- will direct you in reading *392.2 in Definition.
