Would code allow me to install a low voltage lighting control panel in the wall that is inside a 7' tall x 2'wide x 2' deep storage closet?
And if I wanted to have a roll out audio rack sharing the same space that could be wheeled out of the way for access? Would this not be accessible?
Thanks,
Mike

If you got special permission.

I have pretty much convinced myself that something on wheels that can be readily moved to meet the working space requirements is fine. When you have it inspected, open the door and roll the thing out of the closet a few inches. It clearly has the required working space at the time of inspection. What the cuatomer does afterward is not your problem or the inspector's.Thanks,
Mike

Whether either of these things is a good idea is something else. Is the closet ventilated? Some of these type of things generate a significant amount of heat.

no

no

the article you are looking for is 110.26 working clearances
2) Width of Working Space.
The width of the working
space in front of the electrical equipment shall be the width
of the equipment or 762 mm (30 in.), whichever is greater.
In all cases, the work space shall permit at least a 90 degree
opening of equipment doors or hinged panels.

since you say the closet is 24 inches deep and 24 inches wide the answer is NO you cant legaly put the lighting control panel in there
and as far as the removable audio rack the term readily accesable would have to be questioned by the local inspector if they will allow this...

Yes, I have the opportunity to very adequately ventilate the space and let the hot air exhaust into the plenum
Return. I am Seriously lacking for closet and hide-able wall space. So trying to come up with ideas?
Thx

is there some reason the equipment cannot be installed in a wall not in a closet? maybe hidden by some kind of access panel?

Yea, we are exploring that option also.
For now I am trying to come up with ideas that would not be construed as Code violations.
Thanks for all your help?
