In the state of Hawaii ( Commercial Buildings ) 1. Is it required to use plenum cable for satellite installations? 2. Is it required to use plenum cable for cat5 internal wiring?

What is the general ruling for low voltage wiring?

I think I can answer this at least for Honolulu City and County.(all of Oahu). The answer is use plenum rated cable where the nec code book requires the use (in plenums and air return ceilings). That bieng said, it cost's more but it sure is alot simpler to pull plenum wire (less jacket friction), than non plenum wire so sometimes labor cost offsets the price difference.
