I've gotten burned a few times with more then 1 wire on a single barrel lug. Someone told me that you can put 2 wires max on a single lug. True ?
110.14(A) Terminals.
Connection of conductors to terminal parts shall ensure a thoroughly good connection without damaging the conductors and shall be made by means of pressure connectors (including set-screw type), solder lugs, or splices to flexible leads. Connection by means of wire-binding screws or studs and nuts that have upturned lugs or the equivalent shall be permitted for 10 AWG or smaller conductors.
Terminals for more than one conductor and terminals used to connect aluminum shall be so identified.
Thats for panel ground bars. Some allow 3 equipment grounds in each spot still. It depends on the listing and if not labeled even a large lug can't have 2 equipment grounds.Generally speaking, two equal-sized EGCs, one of everything else.
As Don stated probably not for most single hole lugs. The larger ones with the oval hole are often listed for two conductors.I've gotten burned a few times with more then 1 wire on a single barrel lug. Someone told me that you can put 2 wires max on a single lug. True ?
