Luminairs and lighting outlets.

Do luminares have to be installed to lighting outlets to meet the intent for artical 210.70 A 1. The habitable rooms do not have switched recptacles, but have a paddle fan installed with no light kits. fans do have luminare capabilities but not installed. Does the definition of lighting outlet meet the intention of this article by using the word intented ?

Maybe someone could take a quick look through, and let me know if I expressed any opinions. Well, never mind. Just go with my opinion. :) :cool:
 
Funny I just wrote up an apartment building for this same thing.

My take is they want a luminare. If they had wanted a fan they would have said fan outlet.
 
Lighting Outlet. An outlet intended for the direct connection of a lampholder, a luminaire (lighting fixture), or a pendant cord terminating in a lampholder.

I don't believe that a fan meets any of the above definition, you will need another lighting outlet

But it says "intended for...", not that it must actually be installed.

Wasn't the end result from one of those threads that once you physical install a fan w/o a light kit on a box that was "intended for", the "intent" is now irrelevant?

If you hang a luminaire from a box "intended" for support of a ceiling fan, doesn't that intent still exist, and can still be fulfilled in the future?

The best advice is simply to accept my viewpoint on the question, and disregard all others. Now if I could only remember what my viewpoint was??? :-? :-? :D :D

In spite of Charlie B's propaganda and self-promotion, IMEO*? , the best advice is simply to accept my viewpoint on the question, and disregard all others.

Much like other arguements that have no difinitive answer, such as:
Is the world round or flat?
.. this particular argument is over for me...for now.
However, I reserve the right and priviledge to change and/or alter any and/or all of my opinions/replies.

IMEO is a registered trademark ?.
Any use with the owners permission is purely a mistake.
