General Contractor wants to put some sort of open bulb luminaire INSIDE a hollow cavity of kitchen floating shelves for "glow lighting". Ive been trying to pull a code reference or two to tell him this cannot happen. Does anyone know a code that wont allow a open bulb fixture to be in hollow spaces?

I do kitchens all the time with floating shelves and I use LED strip in aluminum channel. I just takes a dado about 9/16 wide and 5/16 deep. Just make sure the wires are there and the cabinet installer can put a dado and drill a hole in the end of it to stub the wire through

But you could also use puck lights. Just make sure the wires are there. The holes can be cut by the cabinet installer or the electrician, whoever knows where to put the holes

In either instance, I run a home run from the driver for each light or strip
