Hi Guys,

Can someone fill me in on the Lutron Vareo VETS-R dimmers? I'm going to be working on a house that has incandescent lights everywhere. We are going to demo the old lights out and install new housings and LED retrofits. In addition, they want the old above mentioned dimmers which are ivory... they want them switched out to white.

-Will the dimmers work with the new LEDs?
-What do I need to look out for?
-Any "watch out for this" info...

Thanks,

Ted

I don't think the lutron vareo line is compatible with led or at least it isn't recommended. If you must use lutron, I know their maestro line
will work with led. If you (or the customer) doesn't have to have lutron, there is always leviton's universal line (illumatech, sureslide are their names) and leviton does tend to be a little cheaper.

You can go with diva the have a version for led

Yes and yes it would. Besides lutrons diva and maestro dimmers , I *think* their ariadni dimmer line is also led compatible.
Knowing that they are all line voltage series dimmers does not by itself guarantee that the innards have identical CFL or LED compatibility.

Your right, it doesn't but the op was informed correctly that the vareo isn't led compatible, and was given the names of a couple of lutron product lines that will work with led and are line voltage compatible- they should work for what he is doing. To clarify for the op, all lutron dimmers in which a "CL" is present after the product line name are led compatible-ex. diva cl, maestro cl, etc.
