LV fire alarm system to HV box ok??

Is it permissible to take wire ( low voltage wire) from a fire alarm system (panel) and bring it to a 120v smoke detector box and those two wires (HV and LV) be in the same box..

I would think if the Lv insulation was rated for the voltage it would be ok. But not if it where Lv wire .

What is the purpose of bringing the LV and HV wire into the same box? Are you connecting a relay on the 120v smoke alarm to the FACP, or are they simply two ships passing in the night? If the later, install a barrier in the box to separate the HV from the LV.

Not me (curious) but yes.............and I would think the wiring would have to be rated for it and not just some bell wire...



sorry...couldn't find answer in above mentioned articles...will look harder.
 
It's possible if the fire alarm wiring is going to connect to a relay on the smoke alarm.

NFPA 70 -2011 760.136 (D) (1) or (2)
