I wish to tidy up a some lvc wiring at a family members house as it looks like the person whom originally installed the wiring got finished his shift at the pretzel factory:mad:

There are many wires that are bare and twisted together for a splice and it looks like the roots of a plant. I will take a few pics of the mess and was wondering if you guys can tell me what you think, should I leave it or try to make it more presentable and safe. The lvc is for some type I sensor on the water lines. The whole key is I am unfamilar with this water heating system in how it's operates. I will post pics of the system and if you guys throw a few links at me I will indeed go and expand my knowlege

Ya I know that one, If it is not broke don't fix it but it sure hard to look at this and not do nothing.

.

The only thing I done here was open the Breaker box to see a 15A and a 20A fuse, and a hot wire (lower right hand corner) just simply cut off and left hanging.

Also here is the boiler that heats the house:

And the last unknown valves, valves that are controlled by thermostats I am guessing. Nice plumbing too eh? Burn marks all over the house.

LVC is Low voltage Cable. Should I be putting links to pics in post or doing as I am?

I believe, here in the states, in Ohio, at least, that boiler systems need someone who is licensed for boiler systems. If you really don't know what you are doing, ask who you are apprenticing under to see if they know, or ask one of the other ECs (if there are any) if they know and could teach you.

If it makes you feel any better, I have burn marks on painted drywall (the paint bubbled!) from my brother installing a water softener. I won't go into too much detail on the electrical system, but I will say that every light fixture and every socket in the finished basement that he rewired has two black wires going to it. Unless it's a three way, than it has two blacks and a white.

From your profile, I'm guessing you don't like doing things twice, so I definitely wouldn't go messing with the LV wiring to a boiler until you are sure you know what you're doing.

Good luck!

ahh bottom dollar install..so where would you like to start..lets start at the beginning the boiler has two black thhn and a grn thhn they need to be in conduit..from the looks of it that should be enough for one evening..then when thats done we can move on from there..

edited to add then take the 4 sq on the left anf put wires in box and add cover.first take care of all the power stuff..then we can discuss the LVC wiring..show us pics when that is done..
